In April 2026 The Prairie House Preservation Society was awarded a grant by the National Trust Preservation Fund. The Prairie House Preservation Society in Norman, Oklahoma will use $5,000 to engage a Capital Campaign Coordinator to support the implementation of a conservation plan for the restoration and long-term stewardship of the Prairie House, an internationally recognized architectural landmark designed by Herb Greene in 1960. Listed on Preservation Oklahoma’s Most Endangered List, the house represents a revolutionary movement that emerged in Oklahoma from the American School ethos of Bruce Goff.

In May 2025 Preservation Oklahoma included the Prairie House to the 2025 list of Oklahoma’s Most Endangered Places. POK aims to promote the places where Oklahoma history lives by bringing awareness to historic landmarks across the state. The 2025 list includes buildings from important Oklahoma architects, beloved community icons, and archaeological sites.

In December 2024 The Prairie House was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places, held in the US National Archives. This includes a designation from the State Historic Preservation Office that recognizes the building as an excellent example of Organic architecture. This major milestone is an honor that signifies the Prairie House is an important part of America’s cultural heritage and worthy of preservation.
