Learning Center
The Prairie House Learning Center activates Herb Greene’s former studio space on the second level, where the public can engage with archival and educational materials, including: historical photographs, design drawings and publications. The Learning Center endeavors to inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation of Oklahoma's rich heritage by providing educational materials centered around the architectural and cultural significance of the site.

Concerts
Music programs offered by the PHPS aim to reinvigorate Herb Greene’s contributions to the American School legacy and to spark new conversations around reimagining what architecture can be. Concerts give musicians a medium for creative expression as a collaborative response to the architecture. Music breathes new life into Prairie House, transforming it into a vibrant landmark that connects the past, inspires the present, and gives hope for the future.

Workshops
The PHPS is partnering with local arts and academic organizations to host a variety of programs from #lovetheprairie and Hands On Heritage days where volunteers can engage the site and building by giving their time and skills for maintenance. The popular architecture sketch program gives attendees the opportunity to intimately observe the building and create drawings. Other creative workshops will feature water coloring, music, and writing.

Special Events
The PHPS has hosts unique events such as star gazing events, poetry readings, and photo shoots. From the success of the Sunrise on the Prairie shoot, PHPS will host a Sunset on the Prairie shoot in October to capture the golden light at the end of day. he fall will be a busy time at PHPS with special events planned from tours, dinners, performances and gatherings. ARCHITECTURAL SKETCH PROGRAM
The Prairie House Preservation Society and the Firehouse Art Center have partnered to create the 2026 Architectural Sketch Program, an on-location drawing experience centered around some of Oklahoma’s most distinctive architectural landmarks.
Participants will visit six sites designed by Herb Greene and Bruce Goff, influential architects associated with the American School architectural movement that emerged from the University of Oklahoma School of Architecture in the mid-20th century.
Each session is conducted in a plein air style, meaning drawings are created outdoors and on location using direct observation. The experience encourages artists to slow down, observe their surroundings, and translate what they see onto paper.
Participants of all skill levels will have the opportunity to express creativity through observational drawing, experience iconic architectural sites across Oklahoma, learn sketching techniques in an outdoor environment, and connect with fellow artists and architecture enthusiasts.
JUNE CONCERT
The June Prairie Concert, presented by the Prairie House Preservation Society, provides an opportunity for individuals and businesses to support the preservation of the iconic Prairie House designed by Herb Greene. Sponsorships advance the Prairie House mission of creating awareness of and promoting preservation of this significant cultural landmark that’s endangered.
Created by the Prairie House Preservation Society Programming Committee, the Prairie Concert fosters community engagement through an immersive evening of music and architecture. The concert will feature a string trio of local musicians performing works that encourage reflection, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for Oklahoma's distinctive artistic and architectural heritage.
